Junior Section Rules
Registration and Funding
All players must be registered with the District and Mumbles RFC before playing. Both registrations must be in force for club insurance to be valid. District registration is required twice, once for Under 11’s and once thereafter (Red card).
The annual registration fee is kept by the junior section, each side can determine its own fee structure.
Each Team will manage their own accounts, arranging funding and sponsorship as necessary. Bank Accounts set up should have a minimum of two signatories.
The club will fund coaching, refereeing and first aid courses, applications to be made through Robin Bonham. New sides will be provided with balls, cones, tag belts, water bottles and a first aid kit.
Matches
All fixtures for the new season to be advised to Simon Jones who is responsible for maintaining the junior fixture matrix. This matrix will be the base for arranging permits and catering for the season. All changes made during the season should be advised ASAP.
In the event of a cancelled match please advise both Robin Bonham and the club steward.
Pitches are booked via Robin Bonham and in his absence, Simon Jones. The senior team takes priority unless it is a cup match. Late bookings can only be made until Wednesday prior to the game.
In adverse weather conditions contact the grounds man at the relevant pitch for advice on cancellation. For Underhill Park please contact Ashleigh Road (205522).
For games played at locations other than Underhill, teams will be required to provide their own flags (except Bishopston).
For Under 9’s and upwards all games require a qualified referee (currently licenced), for Tag rugby the Tag Leader Award is sufficient.
The WRU must be notified of all games played outside Wales. Appropriate Tour authorisation must be obtained.
Changing room keys will be allocated to each team, with each team responsible for their cleaning after use.
Training
Each age group is responsible for organising its own training schedule.
Senior Age groups take priority on pitch use, the main pitch at Underhill is not to be used for training at any time.
All players should be suitably kitted for training sessions. Parents should be advised of the necessary kit during winter months.
For Age groups aged 6 to 12 parents must accompany children during the training sessions.
Playing Kit
Mumbles RFC colours are light and dark blue socks, blue shorts and light blue and dark blue shirts.
Playing kit will be supplied by the individual teams.
Use of Clubhouse
Teams are expected to use the clubhouse for food after home games. Due to Health and Safety legislation, there are limits to the use that can be made of the kitchen facilities.
Hotdogs will be provided to all players, the club will provide the sausages, each team to provide the necessary bread rolls.
For Touring teams alternative arrangements can be made, please contact the club steward to arrange.
Coaches and players are not allowed to wear dirty kit into the club house after the games and the club steward may ask any person not suitably dressed to leave. Team managers are responsible for the behaviour of their teams whilst in the club house.
End of season presentation evenings are to be held at the clubhouse.
International Tickets
Junior Membership entitles the family to apply for tickets for all internationals.
Where ticket applications exceed club allocations a draw will be undertaken to allocate tickets,
Applications to be made in line with club rules.
Disciplinary
All disciplinary matters must be reported to the Junior Section Chairman and Club Secretary. The club has a duty of care to all players and as such will support the decisions of all the coaches and managers where they believe their players may be at risk. This includes, exceptionally, decisions taken to take players off the pitch.
Wherever possible, coaches and managers must seek to resolve any issues with opposing clubs during and immediately after matches. Where resolution cannot be reached the Junior Chairman must be notified immediately. Only club officials may contact the WRU to escalate issues.
The junior section code of conduct must be given to all parents and players.
Child Protection
All coaches, managers, first aiders and other persons assisting must have a completed CRB check. All matters relating to Child Protection must be referred to John House, Child Protection Officer (Tel no. 419976)
